History of The Great American Photo Contest
Founded in the fall of 2006, The Great American Photo Contest was started to provide a forum for individuals to showcase images of their children. Inspired by the concept of using the public’s votes to select a winner, this company now gives away a $2,500 prize each month. Also sponsored by The Great American Photo Contest are opportunities to instantly win $50,000 and routine $25,000 prizes.
The President and CEO of the company has years of experience in the online industry. After being inspired by some truly heartwarming pictures, he decided to develop a website to which parents and legal guardians could post photos of their children and browse through other pictures. The company is sponsored by advertisers’ dollars, and participation in the monthly competitions is free.
The company encourages visitors to the website to register and vote for their favorite pictures. Voters can cast a ballot once per photo each day, though individuals can vote for as many pictures as they like. Also, each photo is manually approved, but most photos submitted by registered contestants appear on the website within 12 to 24 hours of being uploaded. Contestants can upload up to six photos, though the number of votes per individual photo dictates the picture that wins.
